5 ) In Kashgar was built a big station, which will be used as a barrier to the foreign radio broadcastings

Abdullah Pamir, our correspondent from Kashgar, sent the following:
Recently, Chinese government on great expenses, built and put to the exploitation, specially equipped station, which will be used as a barrier to the foreign radio broadcastings in Arslanbag in the east of Kashgar city. Doing this, they made impossible the listening to the waves of not only ““ Radio Free Asia”” radio in Uygur, but also to “ Radio Free Europe” and “VOA” radio stations in Uzbek in the southern part of Eastern Turkestan.
Before it, the same station was built in Urumchi and it was impossible to hear the “Erkin Asiya Radiosi” radio station in the northern part of Eastern Turkestan.
There were small stations of this type in the southern part of Eastern Turkestan before, but they were not so strong and still were possibilities to tune to the waves of the above-mentioned radio stations. Our people, who tired of continuous political pressures, had access to the waves of the foreign radio stations and had listened to them with some hope and satisfaction. That’s why, in recent years among Uygurs was widely practiced the listening to the radio. Some people always kept the radio with themselves, and the news from the radio was widely discussed among the people.
But, Chinese government who was always against to the freedom of our nation stopped listening to the radio, as it did before, during the Cultural Revolution. In some places the radios had been confiscated, and sometimes the radio listeners had been punished, which very strange. But, Chinese authorities were not satisfied with this, and spending more than 3 million Yuan built this station in Arslanbag, Kashgar.
It seems that this very strange action, which is unsuitable to humanism and culture was not happened in any country of the world yet, except Eastern Turkestan!
