DEADLY ARMED CLASHES REPORTED IN KASHGAR

Several armed clashes took place in Kashgar in the last ten days.
According to ETIC sources, East Turkistani pro-independence fighters stabbed to death a Chinese people's court officer, Muhemmet, in Kashgar's Tokkuzak county about ten days ago. Muhemmet's wife, who works in a family planning office of Pahtekli village, was seriously wounded....  (click here)

On February 3, the middle Court of Hotan prefecture convicted Abla Ebey, one of the leaders of the Uighur liberstion movement in Hotan prefecture, for being "a terrorist, a separatist, a violator of the national unity, and a splittist" and sentenced him to life in prison..... (click here)

YOUNG UIGHUR FUGITIVE DIES IN FOREST NEAR AKSU

On June 1, 2000, a body of a young Uighur was found in the forest to the south from the village of Aksu close to the city of Aksu.

Chinese police experts examined the body and concluded that the man "died from starvation and thirst". However, the police could not determine if it was the same person that was wanted by the police for some time because of the bad condition of the corpse.
