Our information: On December 9, 2000 the 3rd ordinary Congress of the "Abroad contacting Committee of the Chinese Democratic movement" under leadership of the well-known Chinese democrat Wie Jingsheng was held on 9 December 2000 in the former capital of Germany - Bonn. Altogether 140 delegates of the Chinese democratic organizations and the well-known persons from the continents of America, Asia and Australia took part in this Congress. 3) New tricks of the Chinese authorities during Holy Ramadan |

Dear compatriots, we have already told in the last issue of "Uchkun" about strengthening of the Chinese authorities' suppression of the local peoples of Eastern Turkestan with the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan, about different restrictions imposed on the Uygurs in terms of fasting during Ramadan and by this making obstacles for the Muslims to exercise their religious right. According to information received by "Eastern Turkestan Information Center" directly from Eastern Turkestan, during the Holy Ramadan month the Chinese authorities extremely strengthened surveillance in Eastern Turkestan. According to the information gained by "Eastern Turkestan Information Center", on 11 December 2000 Liang Keli, a Professor of the Faculty of Chemistry at Xinjiang University was noticed by the by those on duty when he was secretly pasting a leaflet propagating Falungung in the University building and then immediately arrested by policemen.
