12/25 - 13 UYGHUR BUSINESSMEN CONVICTED OVER URUMCHI CITY TIANSHAN REGIONAL COURT  

From December two to December five Urumchi city Tianshan regional court opened trial for 13 uyghur butchers lead by Omer Rozi, Semet Ababekri, Obulkasim Abdurup , Ekber Nurmemet. They all detained and pledged guilty for trying to organize “black community”, but court didn’t present any evidence. Court didn’t give any opportunity for defendants to present their evidence.

11/29 - UYGUR MUSLIMS - SWAMPED BY HAN INFLUX  

KASHGAR, Xinjiang Province, Nov 29 (IPS) - The evening light dances on the glazed pink tiles of the shapely buildings around the ancient Idkah mosque and in the enfolding dusk the site evokes tales from the 'One thousand and one nights'. But the illusion is fleeting -- none of the buildings in this spot, except for the revered mosque, is more than a few years old.

11/27 - CHINA: THIRD SON OF UIGHUR ACTIVIST RABIYA KADEER IN DETENTION  

Amnesty International called on the Chinese authorities to stop targeting the family of Uighur human rights activist Rebiya Kadeer, as two of her sons were sentenced today on charges of tax evasion. A third son who was so badly beaten by police that he had to be hospitalised, has been moved to a detention centre.

Munich- The World Uyghur Congress called Tuesday on German Chancellor Angela Merkel ahead of this week's visit by Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to Germany to lobby for the rights of the Muslim minority in China.

Alim Yunus, founder and one of the leaders of the “East Turkistan Allah Party” was executed by the Chinese government in the year 2000 July 19. Today exactly six years have past since this unbearable loss.

The Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been informed by officials in Uzbekistan that Huseyin Celil, a Uyghur and naturalized Canadian citizen who fled China several years ago, has been sent back to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) by the Uzbek authorities.

Burhan Zunun, a Uyghur from Ghulja in East Turkistan, died at mid-day on December 29 in hospital in Denmark, apparently as a result of injuries sustained during an attempted suicide in police detention on Christmas Day.
