Secret and deceptive information in Uzbekistan

Muhhamet Salih
( Leader of Uzbek Democratic Party )

Frankly speaking it would be better to head my article as Mass Media in colonist countries. Because such kind of mass media is well known to Germans, who lived at the time of Nazi regime. We, who lived at the time of the Soviet era also know about such mass media. Mass media in colonist countries have two main features regardless if it is an asian or european country. First feature is fraud and the second one is immorality! Jozef Gebbels , a leader of Nazi said that " The better and the stronger the fraud, the more people will be attracted by it". His idea became a law in the colonist countries. Vladimir Lenin, a leader in the USSR, at the rise of soviet era said that " The goal proves its value!". The above-mentioned countries were typical colonist countries of the 20-th century. Practice of USSR and Nazi Germany was used later by other colonist countries ( for example China and Cuba). Presently independent Uzbekistan is a small model of the Soviet Union. Moreover fraud and immorality in Uzbek mass media exceed hundred times immorality and fraud which were in Soviet mass media. One of the bright examples of it is an attitude of the press to the independence in Uzbekistan. Looking through press archives for 1989-1991 you can see how political leaders of the soviet era were talking about independence. In their speeches you never meet even this word and if they used it it was said with irony. They were afraid of speaking about independence and blamed those who were trying to speak up about it. In above-mentioned archives we can find materials, which clearly identify the true picture of present president of Uzbekistan. These articles were published in March of 1991 and were about last referendum. At this time Islam Karimov was at the peak of his political career and urged people to vote for the remaining in USSR structure. But then he had to change his policy. At that time many
political leaders had to change their values... They started active promotion of Uzbek language while in the past were ashamed of speaking it. They had been speaking loudly about independence. So so-called red communist became muslims! But... When Uzbekistan acquired its independence they returned to the old models of behaviour and started to administate the country as they did in soviet system. Now after nine years of independence Uzbekistan is still like it was at the time of the soviet era. They could not build up first French republic as their father was Valdimir Lenin. They were brought up in the soviet model. Uzbek mass media is trying to speak about it differently. Speaking about immorality of Uzbek mass media I would like to cite one example, namely I would like to speak about those people who wanted to come back to their homeland through Kyrgyz territory ( people, who wanted their independence in Fergana valley in 1992). Islam Karimov heavily critisized Askar Akayev for the help he provided those people with. Uzbek mass media played its role. They were talking at every corner about this. On the Ukrainian television Islam Karimov vowed to punish them severely. Uzbek mass media exceeded all expectations. However, we can not say that Uzbek people respect such kind of mass media. Because almost 95 percent of people in Uzbekistan are not satisfied with it. The most clear prove is a circulation of Uzbek newspapers. The Voice of Uzbekistan newspaper has only 6 thousand circulation, while population of Uzbekistan counts more tna 25 milllion of people. Besides, 80 percent of this newspaper is distributed though subscription, which is also made on the compulsory basis. Radio and television is also under control and you will never find, hear or see true information. Journalists on television and newspapers do not have rights to show and write about
true situation in Uzbekistan. They have to hide it and show that everything is at the normal level. We can say that there is no official prohibition but still we are to remember that in colonist countries illegal heroism is considered like a crime! Presently Uzbek people think that world community does not know about real situation in Uzbekistan. Many people become more and more uncertain about their future. Such situation makes people apathetic and inert. Only a few people in Uzbekistan have an access to Internet and even smaller part have an opportunity to listen to the radio from abroad. As a result world community does not know about real situation in Uzbekistan. Besides, according to the official sources Islam Karimov, President of Uzbekistan intends to take under control Internet and radio and if really some laws regulating these information sources come to power, Uzbek people will be disconnected from the world community. There is a terrorist regime in Uzbekistan. World community is to save these materials because this is a duty of the whole world
community.
