Kyrgyz court gave a harsh penalty to a young Uighurs
On November 26th the city court
of Bishkek, Qyrgyzstan sentensed the three Uighur
Qeyserjan Jalal (Ubulqasim), Muhemmet Tohtiniyaz,
Ablimit Kerim to the different imprisonment of 30, 18
and 15 years accordingly. They were accused in
involvement in organizing a plot against the late
Neghmet Haji, conspiracy, organization of illegal
Eastern Turkistan Organisation, conspiracy to kill
Chinese diplomats, falsifying passport and caring out
terrorist activities against China from the Kyrgyz
soil.
They were in fact political refugees from Eastern
Turkistan living temporarily in Qyrgyzstan since the
early 1990's. One of them who received a harshest
penalty, Qeyserjan Jalal, was in fact arrested earlier
in 1998 by Qyrgyz authorities and was charged 14 years
on the basis of his political activities. This year in
August his case was revoked and he was charged in
addition to his previous 14 years up to 30 again for
the alleged involvement in plotting a killing of
Neghmat Haji. The court ruled out his denials and the
proofs of his innocence submitted by his lawyers and
carried out the new sentence. Earlier this year the
Osh city court sentenced Esqer Tohti, Ehmet Gunen and
four more Uighurs to the different jail time. The
first two were given a death penalty and 25 years of
imprisonment.
Once considered as an island of democracy in Central
Asia in early 1990 Qyrgyzstan has now changed its
policies and start giving a harsh penalties to Uighurs
fleeing from Chinese oppressions, deporting them back,
reconsidering an earlier made court decisions and
sentencing a much more heavy penalties. We all know
that these are the consequences of the closer
Qyrgyz-Chinese cooperation and increasing pressure
from the late one. It is clearly seen Uighurs are used
as a space goats in order to win a Chinese favour for
Qyrgyzstan now!!!
