Eight Uighurs Sentenced In Hoten

On June 2, 2001, the middle rank court of Hotan held a special meeting "on sentences in accordance with Hard Strike campaign" and sentenced 8 young Uighurs for long term imprisonments for political crimes.
The resolution of the Court says the following.
1. Yasin Tursun, male, Uighur, 23 years old, farmer, from Kashgar. Yasin Tursun is sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and deprived of his political rights for 3 years for his "crime to split the country", and to 10 years imprisonment and deprived of his political rights for 5 years for illegally producing and storing explosive materials. All together, Yasin Tursun is sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and deprived of his political rights for 5 years.
2. Ablximit Memtimin, Uighur, 24 years old, farmer, from the Hotan county. Ablximit Memtimin is sentenced to 9 years imprisonment for his "crime to split the country" and 15 years imprisonment for illegally producing and storing explosive materials. All together, Ablximit Memtimin is sentenced to 20 years imprisonment and deprived
of his political rights for 5 years.
3. Hesen Tursunmemet, male, Uighur, 25 years old, farmer, from the town of Hotan. Hesen Tursunmemet is sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and deprived of his political rights for 2 years for the crime to split the country" and the crime of illegally producing explosive
materials.
4. Turdiehmet Jilil, male, Uighur, 35 years old, from the town of Hotan, farmer. Turdiehmet Jilil is sentenced to 8 years imprisonment and deprived of his political rights for 2 years for his crime to split the country and for illegally producing explosive materials.
5. Ablet Eziz, male, Uighur, 21 years old, carpenter, from the town of Hotan. Ablet Eziz is sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and deprived of political rights for 2 years for his crime to split the country and producing explosive materials.
6. Ablimit Mijit, male, Uighur, 20 years old, worker, from the town of Hotan. Ablimit Mijit is sentenced to 8 years imprisonment and deprived of political rights for 2 years for his crime to split the country and producing explosive materials.
7. Turgun Ehmetniyaz, male, 23 years old, trader, from the town of Hotan. Turgun Ehmetniyaz is sentenced to 9 years imprisonment and deprived of political rights for 2 years for his crime to split the country and producing and storing explosive materials.
8. Tursunjan Abla, male, Uighur, 31 years old, trader, from the town of Hotan. Tursunjan Abla is sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and deprived of political rights for 12 years for his crime to split the country.
