Why Chinese government force Uyghur
farmers to get loan from rural credit cooperatives?
According to Tianshan
news net report in today, 94% of the 12 million 72
thousand farmers in East Turkistan got loans from
rural credit cooperatives in 2007. Most of these
farmers are Uyghurs, since 80% uyghurs are located in
rural arias in East Turkistan. China Banking
regulatory Commission statistics shows that farmers in
East Turkistan small loan in rural credit cooperatives
in the coverage of current system of rural credit
cooperatives in China ranked first.
Although, Chinese
government and Chinese media propagandize that the
credit cooperative system in rural arias in East
Turkistan to help Uyghurs out of the poverty, but in
reality it was designed to deprive Uyghurs land
through putting Uyghurs into more poverty. According
to our reliable sources and some foreign journalist
video interview evidences, Uyghur farmers forced to
get loan, but they were not able to or in other means,
they have no right to spend their loan by themselves.
“They for us to take
a loan to give them…We cannot see that loan.
Government officials take all the money from our loan
and give us empty bank book filled with debt. In my
village someone borrowed 10,000 Yuan from the bank.
But government took all of them and left for him only
1800 Yuan. Isn’t true or not?” said Uyghur farmers at
the video interview conducted by foreign journalist
and ask other farmers to confirm their statement.
Other farmers said: “True, there are some people who
had borrowed 3000yuan from the bank and paid to the
government for various taxes, left for his hand only
60 Yuan” (1)
Every year Uyghur farmers forced to pay various heavy
taxes and to buy agricultural products. Uyghur farmers
have no right to have free using their land. Every
year government decides for them to what they have to
plant in their land and force them to buy seeds with
higher prices than market prices. Uyghur farmers also
forced to pay taxes for next year’s crop. To get those
payments, government force Uyghur farmers to get loan
from the bank and loan given to the farmers directly
taken buy the government as a debt payment before the
farmers could see it. As a result many Uyghurs farmers
forced to sell their lands and houses to payback to
the government credit cooperatives and became homeless
in their own land.
Although Chinese government did not forcibly remove
the Uyhgurs from their land using army forces, but it
has a inherently coercive means since they have using
various tactics such heavy taxes, bank loans and
transferring Uyghurs to work in inner China policy, to
force Uyghurs abandon their lands.
