Could less birth reduces Uyghur’s
poverty ?
Tianshan news net reported yesterday that China’s
birth control party committee secretary review the
Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous region’s birth control
report at the meeting in January 10.
In recent 30 years, 370 thousand births were reduced
in East Turkistan according to the report. Xinjiang
Uyghur Autonomous region party secretary Nurbekri
stressed at the meeting successful result of the
financial reward and punish tactics on birth control
policy which is mainly target the rural arias.
According to Chinese government statistics 80% of the
population in rural arias was Uyghurs, this indicates
that targeting rural arias with birth control policy
is aim to reduce Uyghur population.
Chinese government propagandizes one of its
initiatives of reducing poverty in East Turkistan was
a birth control. Chinese government’s “financially
rewarding the families that cooperated with birth
control policy and punishing the families who did not”
policy could play effective role to force Uyghurs to
abort their unborn children as Uyghur population is
mainly under the poverty line. Economy of Uyghur’s was
massively deprived, since East Turkistan was colonized
by the Chinese communist government.
Less birth could reduce Uyghur’s poverty?
Answer is no, say many Uyhgurs because of the
following reasons:
First of all, annual income gap between Uyghurs and
Han Chinese in East Turkistan is more than 5000 Yuen.
Having a good income, Han Chinese are not interested
in government’s financial reward policy for the less
birth. There is a huge possibility for them to not to
cooperate with birth control policy through bribing or
agreeing to pay huge fine to keep the children that
considered illegal by the government. As a result, Han
Chinese population in East Turkistan would not be
reduced and balance between employment opportunity and
population would not be maintained in Eat Turkistan.
Even if this balance is created, it could be not
beneficial for the Uyghurs, since employment
opportunity of Uyghur’s were deprived by the Chinese
government.
Second, every year Chinese government immigrates more
than one million Han Chinese into East Turkistan and
less birth of Uyghurs would be filled with these
Chinese immigrants. Chinese government propagandizes
that “less birth one child to save one person’s food”
is nothing but to keep one Uyghur’s food for one
Chinese immigrant.
Uyghurs were Muslim and forced abortion was banned in
Islam, It is not possible for Chinese government to
implement birth control policy on Uyghurs through
exclusively implying government propagandizes. In this
reason, Chinese government always implements birth
control policy on Uyghurs with coercive means, such as
police enforcement, financial punishment or denial of
employment and poverty which can put Uyghurs under the
condition of no choice rather than accepting the
policy.
Mr. Abdujelil Karakash talk about the difference
between the forced abortion in East Turkistan and
other Chinese regions and said: “Forced abortion in
East Turkistan is not only human rights issues, it is
something bigger and serious than that, because it is
a political issue, since it can be considered as
ethnic cleansing by Uyghurs and many others who can
see the background of the issue”
