East Turkistan Information Center
strongly condemn China’s decision to step up strict
observation on ETIC
Rukiye Turdush
According to Boxun news in may 26, early April 2007,
the Ministry of Public Security to China provinces,
autonomous prefectures and municipal Public Security
Bureau, the Council issued a secret "carried out
strictly on the Games and the test match for staff
background checks notice." The notice to all at home
and abroad and on the Olympic staff must undergo
rigorous review and do everything possible to get
rid of the CPC adverse "dissidents." And specially
noticed nine Uyghur political activities name lead
by the leader of the Uyghur’s, Ms. Rabiye Kadir who
is exiling in oversees, list also included
Mr.A bdujelil Karakash , the president of East
Turkistan Information Center. The notice announced
that these personnel would be take under the strict
control of Chinese surveillance.
“ It is ridiculous that China brand me and other
human rights activities with dangerous personnel. my
organization and my job is nothing accept to provide
the world community with Uyghur related information,
since there is no Uyghur media freedom in China and
information flow is strictly banned in East
Turkistan. Besides that ETIC is do not belong to any
political organization or countries and unlike
Chinese media, ETIC’s operation is totally
transparent to the world, I have nothing to worried
about Chinese detect. How ever, China may create any
evidence to justify its slander”
The upcoming 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, seems to
create greater demand for China’s media coverage,
the preexisting monitoring system piles on new
limitations and fines, and the government continues
to detain and harass journalists.
China’s Constitution Chinese law includes media
regulations with ambiguous language that authorities
use to claim stories put in danger the country by
sharing state secrets. Journalists face persecution
and prison terms for violating these rules and
disclosing confidential issues. For China, all human
rights violation on uyghurs in East Turkistan is
considered as confidential matter. Numbers of Uyghur
journalists arrested and sentenced to long term
imprisonment for raveling piece of information
related to Chinese authority’s crucial regime on
East Turkistan. Nurmemet Yasin, the author of the
“wild Peagon” sentenced to ten years imprisonment
and Abdugheni Memtimin, the freelance journalist who
secretly provided useful information to ETIC about
Chinese violation of human rights sentenced nine
years imprisonment. Ms. Rabiye Kader itself was
sentenced eight years imprisonment followed her
conviction for “undermining state security”, a
charge justified on the grounds that she had sent
her exiled husband a clipping from a local newspaper.
According to creadible sources, ETIC well informed
and believed all of the Uyghur personnel on Chinese
list are peaceful human rights activities and The
main goal of World Uyghur Congress is to offer a
strong platform upon which to build the democratic
structures which undermine the support and
credibility of acts of violence, promotes the right
of the Uyghur people to use peaceful, nonviolent,
and democratic means to determine the political
future of East Turkestan.
ETIC strongly condemns China’s disrespect and
insulting announcement , it explains again China’s
fear of information flow related its dark side, for
the reason that during the Olympics, the Government
ownership of almost all Olympic-related media
infrastructure – outgoing and incoming wire-line and
wireless communications, including telephone and
Internet connections, international radio and
television signals for broadcasting rights holders
and transmission hardware for all television and
radio broadcasts destined for international rights
holders – will enable Chinese editing of offending
broadcasts and interference with their transmission.
