Wen Jiabao greeted with anger and demonstration by Tibetans at New York City

CBy RTYC-Sonamla
Dec 8, 2003, 00:15

Wen Jiabao's motorcade was yelled with slogans and chants by the Tibetans at opposite side of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel where he is staying. A group of people from SFT sneeked into the Welcoming Chinese group where the Tibetan flag was thrown while Wen Jiabao greeted his supporters. Han from SFT had verbal clashes with the Chinese groups.

On the Tibetan side there were about 200 Tibetans who shouted slogans demanding him to release Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, Panchen Lama and rest of the Political prisoners. The group was also joined by the Taiwanese and East Turkistans. People shouted slogans supporting Taiwan and East Turkistan. Some of the slogan leader shouted slogans i.e. Wen Jiabao-Free Tibet, Wen Jiabao-Release Tenzin Delek, stop the killings in Tibet, Human rights in Tibet, China Lies-people die etc.

This rally was organized by Tibetan Community of NY/NJ, Students for a Free Tibet, USTC, Tibetan Women's Association, Tibetan Youth Congress of NY/NJ. The organizers will hold the demonstration tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. at the same place and then follow him at New York Stock exchange. People have been registering for the bus trip to Washington DC where Wen Jiabao will face us. We will not rest till Tibet is free.

Tibetan Youth Congress of NY/NJ will launch a day long fast from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m at the United Nations on Human Rights Day demanding UN to be responsible on Human Rights abuses. If Tibet is part of the World then UN should be ashamed on failing to act upon the violation of Human Rights, religious freedom and mediation of dialogue between the Chinese Government and His Holiness The Dalai Lama. There will be demonstration from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. the same day where we will urge UN to wake up and help Tibet.

We urge every Tibetan and the supporters of Tibet to join us all. Anyone needing more information can check SFT and TYC websites or speak with the board members by calling their offices.
