An event to commemorate the life of the late famous Uyghur historian Mr.Haji Yaqup was held in Munich, Germany.

On December 23rd of 2001 a commemeration event to mark the 40 day since the early departure of the late Haji Yaqup was held at the premises of the “Eatersn Turkistan Informational Center” with the help of organizers from “World Uyghur Youth Congress”. The event was dedicated to commemorate the life of the late Mr.Hji Yaqup.

During the meeting a chairman of the “World Uyghurs Youth Congress” Dolqun Eysa said the following “Haji Yaqup together with being a well-known historians was a great revolutioner. His early departure is invaluable lost to Eastern Turkistan. He was a lovable son of Uyghur Nation. Like those Turghun Almas, Zordun Sabir … Haji Yaqup was a warrior son of its nation who kept the cultural treasury of our nation. The following future generation of Uyghur youth was taught on their works, learnt from them and become a bequestor of their cliams. Their activities are the program for us of our future national revolution. We, Youth of Eastern Turkistan, will keep in our memories their teachings forever. Let be peace upon him in paradise!”

After the citing Quran, the chairman of “Eastern Turkistanian Informational Center” Mr. Abdujelil Qaraqash mentioned the warm and friendly relations he experienced with the late Haji Yaqup and was sadenned with his early departure. He said the following ”The late Haji Yaqup was only only the famous historians of the 20st century but was a living history by himself. He was an owner of the enormously rich knowledge of history and its secrets rarely observed in people. The late teacher has left for us his valuable life experiences and knowledge of history of the 20th century of the Eastern Turkistan in his books to the future generation, as he always wanted to do. Alas, due to the financial and immigration hardships experienced during the last period of his life he was not able to fulfill his dreams fully. Uyghur nation has lost not an ordinary man but its living history and the vast treasure of its knowledge!
I, personally feel uncomfortably as the Uyghur community in general living in exile outside of the Eastern Turkistan of the missed opportunities, which we were short to provide for the late Haji Yaqup. With this opprtunity to speak out I would like to call our fellow compatriots once again reconsider its role in exile and value those intelligent representatives of Uyghur nation while they are alive by supporting them socially and financially!
As any nation which values its science elite will prosper in the futurre and the nation which does not would not be able to relay on its prosperious future indeed!”
