ETIC STRONGLY CONDEMN PAKISTAN’S EXTRADITION OF UYGHURS TO CHINA

2009-04-28

East Turkistan Information Center strongly condemns Pakistan’s recent extradition of nine Uyghur freedom fighters that arrested from Pakistan’s lawless tribal areas to China and demands that Pakistan refrain from future extraditions Uyghurs who forced to flee Pakistan to escape from torture and execution in China

“Presence of Uyghur freedom fighters among the ranks of Taliban is always sending wrong message to the world that Uyghurs are the enemy of the West as well. However, these Uyghur freedom fighters were forced to flee neighbor countries such as Pakistan and Afghanistan as Chinese government aggressively oppressed Uyghurs under its colonial regime. Uyghurs have nothing to do with Al-Qaida and they are most pro western people among the Muslim people, since China always oppose to the West. But they forced to look for support and military training from Taliban forces as they have no support from anyone else,” Said Mr.Abdujelil Karakash, president of ETIC.

ETIC has no doubt about Chinese government’s death penalty on these Uyghurs that may going to be declared soon by the Chinese government as Chinese government did before to the Uyghurs that extradited from neighbor countries. ETIC also believe that it will only agitate the anger among Uyghurs and increase the tension.

“China should act as a great power and consider opening fair trial on these Uyghurs,” Said one of the ETIC representatives. ETIC strongly condemned Pakistan’s unwise and coward action regarding these nine Uyghur freedom fighters. Hand over Uyghur freedom fighters where they are at risk of torture and death penalty to please only the Chinese government is against the international law that states are obliged to not to expel , return or extradite any person to a country where they risk torture or ill treatment. We also would like to call international world community to condemn the Pakistani government and urge China not to use its power and capability on shameful battle such as torture and death penalty.
