Three Apendi Remembered In Istanbul

On 26 July 1998, Eastern Turkistan Foundation and Eastern Turkistan refugee community held a conference in Istanbul to remember three most important and influential figures in the history of Eastern Turkistan , the "Three Apendi" - Dr.Mesut Sabri Baykozi, Mehmet Emin Bugra and Isa Yusuf Alptikin. The theme of the conference is the role and influence of the "Three Apendi" in the Political and cultural history of Eastern Turkistan. Besides the Uygurs living in Istanbul, some members of the Parliament and local journalists also attended the conference. Riza Bekin, the chairman of the Foundation, delivered the opening speech.
Assitant to the president of the Fazilat party Pro. Dr. Nevzat Yalqintas and MP Mehmet Silayit chaired the conference. During the three_day conference, the following people took the stand: researcher and translator Yunus Bughra´s introduction of the lives of the "Three Afendi",Dr. Gultekin Pehlivan's speech titled Dr. Mesut Sabri", Dr. Erkin Emet 's introduction on Mehmet Emin Bughra´s literary accomplishment and Abdulhamit Avsar 's talk on Isa Yusuf Alptekin.
