[ETIC 12/3/98] Ismail Hajim was born in Eastern Turkistan Peizavat town near Kashkar in 1921. At the age of 7 he started his primary school education. He became a businessman when he was 18 years old.
In 1949 when Communist Chinese invaded Eastern Turkistan, he followed the well known Uyghur nationalist leader Mr Isa Yusuf Alpetekin to take refuge in India. After seven months he left India for Saudi Arabia.
From 1950 to 1988 he lived in Saudi Arabia as a businessman. In 1988 he immigrated to Turkey where he settled with his family.
Ismail Hajim lived all his life with the only wish to see an independent Eastern TurkIstan. He offered his full moral and financial support to
Uyghur nationalistic movements. He will be remembered for his active role in Uyghur national activities.
Ismail Hajim left this world on 9th March, 1998, 10:50pm Istanbul time. [Abdulcelil Turan]
