Arrests in the high education Institutions of Eastern Turkestan
Over last years simultaneously with strengthening "atheist training" of the Uygur students at various high educational Institutions, the Chinese Communist authorities are arresting and expelling from the Institutes those Uygur students who were reported to worship at the Institutes and normally exercising their religious believe. "Eastern Turkestan Information Center" has the names of the following students arrested by the Chinese authorities:
1 .Sattar Abliz, 22 y.o., student of the "Building construction Institute", from village of Yar, city of Turfan. He was detained on June 1999 accused in "worshiping at school" , sentenced to 2,5 years imprisonment. At present he is imprisoned in the Ulanbay labor camp, Urumchi.
2. Qudret Tomur, 24 y.o., student of the Economic management Faculty, Xinjiang University, from Turfan. He was arrested on 6 December 2000 for "illegal reading religious book and being engaged with the religious activities at the University", jailed in Turfan prison;
3. Buwaishem Yaqup, 22 y.o., student of the Literature Faculty of Xinjiang University, from Cherchen district, during 1998-1999 she was punished 4 times by the Security organs for "being engaged with illegal religious activities". On June 1999 she suddenly disappeared. According to preliminary reports, she was secretly thrown to jail and till now was not shown to her relatives;
4. Yaqup Abla, 23 y.o., student of the Faculty of mechanization of industry, Xinjiang Institute of Industry, from Korla city. He was arrested on June 1999 and after being accused in illegal religious activities sentenced to two years imprisonment. Now at Ulanbay labor camp;
5. Heirigul Turghun, 22 y.o., student of the Faculty of electrical energy, Xinjiang Institute of Industry, from Dehqanchiliq village of Korla city. On 1999 she was arrested for illegal religious activities, and after several months interrogation was released, but expelled from the Institute. Now at home arrest;
6. Abduweli Tursun, 22 y.o., student of Xinjiang Institute of Industry, on June 1999 was arrested for illegal religious activities, and later released. On September this year he suddenly disappeared. He is reported to be arrested secretly by police and jailed;
7. Amangul Ehmet, 21 y.o., student of the Faculty of Chemistry, Xinjiang University, from Pichan district of Turfan Prefecture. She was arrested at the University for illegal religious activities and sentenced to 1,5 years of imprisonment. According to the "Eastern Turkestan Information Center"s report, at present the Chinese authorities use red terror against the Uygur students in Eastern Turkestan. It became common when the Uygur students are arrested falsely accused in committing crimes, are tortured and threatened, and expelled from Institutions. As for the Uygur teachers protesting against this Chinese authorities' crime are politically persecuted.
