East Turkistan became the safe haven
for millions of Han migrants during the global crisis

Chinese government opened various aiding centers
of trade unions in East Turkistan in this year to
attract millions of Han Chinese migrant workers
into East Turkistan wile Uyghurs suffering with
unemployment. Aiding centers only focused on those
migrant Han Chinese workers to help them find
jobs. Chinese government also offers them free
medical treatment, training on labor legislation
and safety knowledge on job placement. The report
published in Tianshan news net in April 2, said
that more than 100,000 migrant workers have
received the benefit of assistance through aiding
migrant workers activity that launched by Xinjiang
Federation of Trade Unions. “All kind job fairs
will be also held to help over 10,000 migrant
workers” the report said.
“Why government held these job fairs only for Han
Chinese migrants? Government always propagandize
that Uyghurs are Chinese citizen too and Xinjiang
is part of China, but still Uyghurs were isolated
and discriminated” Said one of the short email
that ETIC received from East Turkistan.
Han Chinese migrant workers find East Turkistan is
not only safe haven during the financial crisis,
but opportunity of successful permanent settlement
wile Uyghurs threatened with job discrimination,
poverty , political oppression and helpless
future.
