36 young Uyghur thieves were arrested in Nanchang

Rukiye Turdush

2008 -12-18

According to Nanchang news net report in December 17, 36 Uyghur kids who are belong to organized gang of thieves were captured by the Chinese police in Nanchang city. Gangs of thieves have been working in the Nanchang city stealing money from people’s pocket were organized by 23 years old young Uyghur man. All of these kids are in school age between 8 and 15, but no chance has to go to school as most of Uyghurs economical situation were devastated under the Chinese communist occupation. According to our sources, quite large number of Uyghur kids forced to flee to Chinese cities and forced to be thief. Some of these kids were kidnapped by the gangs, some of them were homeless and some of them were forced to be thief by own parents to be survive from hunger. If those kids steal the money, often captured by police and face torture in detention center or badly beaten up by Chinese people at the streets. If they don’t steal the money, they beat up by the head of stealing gangs.

“That is our responsibility to destroy and crack down stealing gangs and kick them out from our city to create peaceful environment” said head of the Nanchang police.

Various Chinese web site discussion boards always talk about those kids, but none of Chinese person tried to analyze true reason of these stealing and no one expressed sympathy to these kids except extreme hatred. No one imagined why those kids were forced to be thief and why those kids have no chance to go to school, no chance and rights to get proper life with their parents like other kids. Why there are no love and carry for these kids from anywhere and anyone. Why Chinese government do not take responsibility of these kids instead of crack down them. It is hard to imagine why none of the Chinese people did come out of these questions and try to analyze the socioeconomic and racial problems of troubled young Uyghur kids.

“Maybe that is the difference between western people and Chinese people” said one Chinese women who recently arrived the western country “I am amazed that how western government giving the best care and love to the kids regardless of their race. As the western government treated the kids as an angel, people treated them in same way too. Not only Chinese government but also Chinese people are having no such a big heart”

What we can say? Maybe she is right, in non democratic countries when the government do not take responsibility, citizens lost their direction because government drive the car and citizens even do not know where they are going. May be she is wrong, maybe we only can say that Chinese people are inborn nationalist since they cannot understand difference between adult and kid. .
