ETIC calls the World Community to
take Urgent Action
The East Turkistan Islamic Movement claimed the
responsibility for the attack on Chinese police
officers which killed 16 and injured 16 others
Monday, 4 August East Turkistan. However, the ETIC
learned that the attack was not organized by any
group.
"Our source is credible - the attack was not
organized by any group", said the president of the
ETIC, Abdujelil Karakash: “Each Uighur can be one
bomb for China, regardless whether they belong to
any organization or not, since China targets each
Uighur as a terrorist suspect, and all the Uighurs
are subject to be eradicated from their own land
today. Because we know that the fight against
China’s aggressive regime and getting freedom from
China is not only the dream of the ETIM it is the
dream of all the Uighurs.”
China has blatantly repudiated criticism of its
human rights record from US-President Bush and
claimed it was interfering with China’s internal
affairs. The East Turkistan Information Center
(ETIC) strongly condemns China’s firm opposition
of its response to President Bush’s criticism, and
China's offensive human rights violations.
“The Uighur issue is not China’s internal affair.
It is an issue between China and East Turkistan.
When the Chinese Army entered East Turkistan in
1949, they promised us that they will stay only
for two years. But they did not leave our country
for now more than 50 years. It is time for them to
leave as they have become the main source of
unrest in the region.” Said Abdujelil Karakash.
The conflict between Uighurs and the Han Chinese
colonizers never stopped, since China launched
every year various campaigns against the Uighurs
to assure their ethnic cleansing policy. After 11
September 2001, the Chinese government
aggressively cracked down the Uighurs with the
excuse of terrorism, despite the fact that there
were no terrorist acts. Thousands of Uighurs were
arrested, tortured and executed as terror suspects
without any credible evidence. Recently Uighurs
faced again state terror launched by Chinese
police forces with the excuse of Olympic security.
5 Uighurs were killed while they were resisting
their arrest in Urmchi on July 8. 5 Uighurs were
executed and 15 Uighurs sentenced to life
imprisonment in Kashgar on July 8 again. On
Januray 17, five Uighurs had been killed and 18
arrested in Pamir. On January 27, two Uighurs were
killed and six injured, 15 arrested in Urumchi. On
February 5, 18 Uighurs were killed in Urumchi
again. There was no evidence shown for the
charges. On March 24, an Uighur women protest was
violently cracked down in Hoten and 400 women were
arrested.
If the world does not pay attention to the Uighur
cause - and China is unlikely to improve its human
rights record - China will face more violent
attacks and Uighurs face continued bloody
oppression. The ETIC calls the World Community to
take urgent action to prevent the possibility of
such heavy unrest.
