MOn Monday, August 04, 2008, The Xinhua News
Agency reported that two Uyghurs attacked a police
station in Kashgar and killed 16 policemen and
injured other 16.
The ETIC confirmed the news this morning and
learned that there were nocivilians hurt in this
attack.
The incidence happened in the morning at 8:00
o’clock, while the Chinese police forces were on a
regular morning exercise outside the armed police
division. The attackers were then arrested.
They were two young Uyghur men around 20 years,
but their names were not yet disclosed by the
police.
According to Chinese media, the Chinese
Intelligence Service said: “The East Turkistan
Islamic Movement" planned to carry out terrorist
attacks during August 1-8, just ahead of the
opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Since September 11, 2001, the Chinese government
is using war on terror as an excuse to justify its
oppressive regimes arbitrary crack-downs on
Uyghurs everywhere.
Chinese police forces launched a mass arrest in
East Turkistan with theexcuse of Olympic security
and they target only Uyghurs. Just recentlyChinese
police forces killed five Uyghurs and injured two
others inUrumchi, while because these Uyghurs
resisted their arrest.
The Chinese government claimed that they were
terrorist suspects, but they could not present any
evidence. “Uyghurs already have no more patience
because of the harsh oppressive regime. It is
quite understandable, if they attacked the police
forces”, said Abdujelil Karakash, president of the
ETIC.
The Chinese government consideres anyone who
disapproves of any unfairgovernment policy, as a
separatist and tries to link them always
withinternational terrorist organizations.
However, the home made bomb that was used on the
Monday morning attack clearly indicates that these
Uyghur resistance fighters only depend on their
own resources. There is no organization or state
behind them that provides them withsophisticated
weapons or any other kind of support.
