7 people arrested in East Turkistan
for "Keeping Religious Books"

The East Turkistan Information Center reports today
that the Chinese authorities have arrested 7 young
Uighur Muslims for "Keeping Religious Books" . The
incident happened on 20th of July, 2005, at a Bus
Station in the Korla District in South Xinjiang. When
authorities were checking passenger's bags and their
belongings, they found a book called "Mushkatil
Musabih", which contains Hadis of the Profit Muhammad.
The East Turkistan Information Center was able to find
out the identity of 4 people, 3 others remains unknown.
The 4 people are:
Abdullah Zakir, 30 years old man from the town of
Qosh'eriq in the Korla District.
Ayshem Kerem and Amangul Ismail, both are 19 years old
women, from the town of Sheher Tobrichi in the Korla
District.
Hushur Ghupur, 32 years old man, from the town of
Lenger in the Korla District.
A week later, 6 people including Abdullah Zakir,
Ayshem Kerem, Amangul Ismail and 3 others whose
identity were unknown were released from custody,
after paying a fine of 7000 RMB(Yuan) . But Hushur
Ghupur was not released, instead he was transferred to
the Charbagh prison in Kucha County near Korla.
The Chinese Government's respect for the religious
freedom remained poor over the century, several Uighur
Muslim have been arrested for practising or learning
religion, teaching Kuran and keeping religious books.
