OCTOBER 26: DEMONSTRATIONS IN WASHINGTON, PARIS, MOSCOW, CANBERRA AND BRUSSELS FOR FREEDOM AND DEMOCRACY IN LAOS

Paris-Strasbourg, October 24, 2002. In the occasion of the third anniversary of the nonviolent demonstration of October 26, 1999 in the laotian capital and of the disappearance of the 5 leaders of this movement for freedom and democracy in Laos, the Lao Movement for Human Rights, the Asia-Democracy Forum and the Transnational Radical Party organize silent demonstrations in front of the Lao People Democratic Republic in Canberra, Brussels, Paris, Moscow and Washington this saturday 26 october 2002. Support from Southern Mongolia.

Statement of Mr Togochog Enhebatu, President of Southern Mongolian Human Rights Information Center

"Dear friends from Lao and elsewhere who are fighting for their people's freedom and human rights: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood". (Art. 1 of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights). On behalf of 5 million Mongolian people in the Chinese Communist dictatorship controlled Southern Mongolia, I congratulate you on your great effort for the fight for your people's basic human rights and fundamental freedom. Freedom and human rights are non-negotiable. Every individual or group has the rights to live free from the dictatorship. However, it is impossible that a nation or a people under dictatorships could gain their freedom and national liberty without a strong ally of freedom fighting peoples from the rest of the world."
