As we all know,
the Communist China restricts the foreign media to
gather information from Eastern Turkistan. Equally, the
Chinese authorities limit the worldwide information flow
to Eastern Turkistan. China’s ultimate goal is to
distance Uighurs from the world and to separate the
world from the Uighur people so they remain in a
backward state. Chinese rulers also attempt to disguise
their oppressive ruling of Eastern Turkistan from the
world community.
However, China’s opening to the world and development of
communication has created new opportunities for Uighurs
to join the world information community. They started to
limit the use of information sources by Uighurs and
their access to the outer world.
For example, according to the report of our
correspondent in the homeland, Chinese authorities
recently have issued secret instructions to ban strictly
all government structures to an access to satellite
television. The instruction pintpoints that “ The
strategic role of Xinjiang is very important, the
internal enemies are inclined to westernization in
political, cultural and economic aspects; the fight
against Xinjiang forced rebels and illegal religious
activities is as one of its main weapons. That is why
every level of government agencies, local radio and
television offices should strengthen the political
leadership, limit any person of accessing western
programs, and this should be understood as an important
political task!”
The instructions of Chinese authorities to restrict the
access of local people to independent information
sources caused great concern and dissent. The Chinese
government violates the basic human rights proclaimed by
the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, the
right for free information flow and freedom of speech. |
