Since the 90s, the Chinese government has been selling arms to Pakistan and made huge profits. The Pakistan government armed its forces with the latest Chinese weapons at relatively low prices.

In February 1998 the two government officials signed the sales contract of FBCI fighter jets to Pakistan. Pakistan also bought 200 new Chinese designed T85-2M tanks and provided funds for the Chinese to research and make T90-2 tanks.
