The Fate of the Uighur Girls in Chinese Cities

Since 1988, the Uighur girls have being employed as waitresses at the luxury hotels, dance clubs, and bars opened as foreign joint ventures at the big cities of the Chinese coastal areas. The advertisements claiming "We will hire the pretty Uighur girls with very high salaries" have been increased at all of the places in Eastern Turkistan. Finally, the mischivious trade of the Chinese companies selling in the Uighur girls became known. The number of the Uighur girls who were deceived, kidnapped, and missed are more than 10,000. It is not known how many of the Uighur girls who had been forced to become prostitute, sold as mistresses, and had been killed as a result of being introduced to drugs and alcohol. Although the press and the local congress in Xinjiang protested this in 1992, these criminal activities have been continuing. Iltebir
