PETITIONO
To the Political
Asylum Branches in America, Canada, Europe and Australia
POur Since the September 11
events the Chinese regime using these tragic events as
an excuse has on the one hand intensified the
oppression of the population of the Uighur region, and
on other hand it accused the Uighur organizations
abroad, which lead peaceful activities and all
patriots of being “terrorists”.
The Chinese government even puts political and
diplomatic pressure on the neighboring with the Uighur
region states of Kazakhstan, Kyrghyzstan, Pakistan in
order to force them extradite the Uighur political
refugees from Eastern Turkistan. The Chinese regime
aims at catching these political refugees and severely
punishing them. A certain number of political asylum
seekers in Central Asia have no choice but to flee in
every possible way to America, Canada, Australia and
Europe and to claim asylum there.
According to reports and testimonials of many Uighur
asylum seekers their relatives in Eastern Turkistan
undergo strong pressure from the Chinese regime. Some
of them get arrested because of the affiliation with
the refugees. Unfortunately, whereas the Uighur
refugees face such hardships, many European countries
refuse giving asylum to them. Some refugees are even
required to return to China.
We hope that relevant authorities will keep in mind
the present political situation in China and the
Uighur region and that they will pay more attention
and consideration to the case of Uighur political
asylum claimers. Although the Chinese regime labels
the Uighur national movement as “the terrorist
organization”, the US and European political leaders
have warned the world community that the Chinese
regime used the international terrorism as an excuse
to oppress Uighurs. They confirmed that the national
struggle of the Uighur people for self-determination
and independence is not related to the international
terrorism. We sincerely hope that the governments of
the USA, Canada, Australia, and also of European
states to consider positively the asylum claims of the
Uighur refugees.
Respectfully,
Abdujelil Qaraqash
